MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Memphis 901 FC has acquired forward Elliot Collier on loan from the Chicago Fire, the club announced Thursday.
Pending league and federation approval, Collier joins goalkeeper Jeff Caldwell, midfielder Damani Holness, forward Rashawn Dally, forward Junior Sandoval, defender Louis Bennett, defender Marc Burch, defender Wes Charpie, forward Heviel Cordovés, midfielder Raul Gonzalez, midfielder Ewan Grandison, defender Morgan Hackworth, defender Triston Hodge, goalkeeper Scott Levene, midfielder Dan Metzger, defender Josh Morton, midfielder Duane Muckette, midfielder Adam Najem, midfielder Leston Paul, defender Todd Pratzner, and forward Luca Uccello on the team’s 2019 roster.
The New Zealand-born striker is a former third round (No. 49 overall) pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft.
Collier spent significant time with Memphis during the preseason leading the club with four goals, including a hat trick against the University of Memphis on March 1 at AutoZone Park.
“We’re extremely pleased to have Elliot join our squad this season,” 901 FC head coach Tim Mulqueen said. “He’s an exceptional young forward with great technique, energy and a high soccer IQ.
“We expect him to add some versatility to our attack.”
Collier spent a majority of 2018 with the Fire making nine starts and scored in his debut against Minnesota United. In 904 minutes of play, the Hamilton, New Zealand native recorded a goal and assist in MLS play.
At the collegiate level, Collier was a four-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection at Loyola University Chicago where he scored 17 career goals.
Collier played club soccer in New Zealand for Hamilton Wanderers AFC of the Northern Premier League and scored 18 goals and notched 14 assists in his final high school season at Saint Paul's Collegiate Academy.
“Anytime you can add quality players to your squad is very helpful, particularly at this stage of the preseason,” 901 FC sporting director Andrew Bell said. “Elliot is a very good young player and we’re excited to have him.”
