MEMPHIS, Tennessee – For the second time this season Memphis 901 FC forward Brandon Allen has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week, this time after scoring twice in Memphis’ 4-2 win over Swope Park Rangers Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
Saturday’s match was tied at 2 before 901 FC got a pair of goals from Allen within 10 minutes in the second half to seal the victory. After Swope Park scored its second goal in the 50th minute, Allen put 901 FC back on top off a beautiful ball from Lindley from midfield, and he then provided an insurance tally in the 77th minute playing a cross from Collier past the keeper.
The performance was Allen’s second two-goal outing of the year, after he also did so on July 20 against New York Red Bulls II.
On the USL Championship award front, Allen’s Week 27 award joins his Week 20 recognition, and 901 FC teammates Elliot Collier (Week 2, Week 18), Wes Charpie (Week 3), Duane Muckette (Week 10), and Adam Najem (Week 26) have also been honored by the league this season.
901 FC next hits the road to face Loudoun United FC on Friday, before returning to AutoZone Park for three-straight matches against Saint Louis FC (Sept. 21), Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (Sept. 24), and Bethlehem Steel FC (Sept. 28) to close the month of September.
