LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Memphis 901 FC headlines the USL Championship’s Game of the Week Tuesday night as the club takes on back-to-back league champions Louisville City FC.
Kickoff at Louisville Slugger Field is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN 3.
Memphis (1-5-2, 5 pts) enters Tuesday looking for a favorable result against a club it saw earlier in the preseason. This meeting has points on the line and 901 FC would like nothing more than to head into Saturday’s home match against Birmingham three points closer to a Top 10 spot in the Eastern Conference.
Memphis is coming off a narrow, last-minute 1-0 defeat to the Charleston Battery over the weekend. That match was one of three in a week for the club from the Bluff City.
Tuesday’s match will have added significance as 901 FC midfielder Morgan Hackworth will face a Louisville City FC squad coached by his father, John Hackworth. Morgan Hackworth is in his rookie season following a successful colligate career at the University of Akron. He comes from a storied soccer family, starting with its patriarch (John Hackworth) who is in his second season at the helm in Louisville.
Both saw each other previously in the preseason as Louisville took a 4-2 result during the friendly in Nashville.
Eight games into the season, Louisville (3-3-1, 10 pts) finds itself too fighting for a Top 10 position after a week off from play. The defending champions are 2-2-0 at home this season and are led in scoring by Abdou Mbacke Thiam (two goals).
Following Tuesday night’s matchup, Memphis will head back home to take on Birmingham Legion FC this Saturday at 3 p.m.
Single match tickets for that match are available online and at the AutoZone Park box office.
Season tickets, group tickets, and 7 Match Flex Plans are also available, with full season tickets starting at just $10 per match. Call (901) 721-6000 or go to https://www.memphis901fc.com/tickets for more information on all ticket options.
