MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Memphis 901 FC looks to build on its recent form Saturday as the club hosts Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC at AutoZone Park.
Kickoff for the match is set for 7:00 p.m.
Memphis is coming off a 3-1 win in its Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup debut against New York Red Bulls U-23. The win extended Memphis’ unbeaten streak to three-straight in all competitions (USL Championship and Open Cup).
Including Wednesday’s historic Open Cup performance, Memphis has scored seven goals in its past three matches. As 901 FC re-enters league play, three crucial points are available as the club creeps closer to a Top 10 spot in the East.
Defender Marc Burch, the team’s leader in scoring through the first nine matches, is no longer alone at the top after Memphis’ past two USL Championship performances. Forwards Duane Muckette and Elliot Collier have both scored in back-to-back league matches putting them in a three-way tie with 901 FC’s captain.
The team Memphis is looking to jump in the Eastern Conference standings arrives on a seven-match unbeaten streak in USL Championship play. The Riverhounds have scored 12 goals during that span and are currently led in scoring by midfielder Kevin Kerr, who has scored twice in the past five matches.
Memphis native, Collierville High School alum and retired U.S Paralympic Soccer team captain Kevin Hensley will be Saturday night’s honorary captain. Fellow Memphian Daren Bates, linebacker and special teams captain for the Tennessee Titans, is Saturday night’s guitar smasher presented by Memphis Travel.
The first 1,500 fans through the doors of AutoZone Park will receive a “Makin’ Moves Like Najem” t-shirt commemorating Najem’s amazing assist against Birmingham Legion FC, courtesy of Papa John’s Pizza.
