KANSAS CITY, Kansas – Memphis 901 FC hits the road Wednesday looking to extend its recent unbeaten streak to four-straight as the club takes on Swope Park Rangers.
Kickoff from Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City is set for 7:00 p.m. on CW30 Memphis.
Memphis (2-6-3, 9 pts) has put together quite the streak as of late, remaining undefeated in its past three matches in all competitions (USL Championship and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup play). The club is coming off a Saturday postponement of its match against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC due to inclement weather.
While that match will be scheduled at a later date, Memphis’ attention is squarely focused on Swope Park. Should Memphis grab three points Wednesday, the club will be in the thick of playoff contention. Memphis’ form over its past three matches has seen the club score seven goals (four in USL Championship, three in the Open Cup).
Forward Duane Muckette has led 901 FC players with two goals during that span, jumping into a three-way tie with captain Marc Burch and fellow forward Elliot Collier for the team-high in league goals (2).
Memphis’ play on the road has been stellar this season, with the club scoring twice as many league goals on the road (7) than it has at home.
Wednesday will be the first meeting with Swope Park (1-5-3, 6 pts), a team that recently joined the Eastern Conference. Swope currently sits 17th in the conference standings, posting one win in its past five matches.
The club is the direct affiliate of Major League Soccer’s Sporting Kansas City, with several of Sporting KC’s prospects playing for Swope Park. Midfielder Felipe Hernandez leads Swope with four goals and two assists so far this season.
Following Wednesday’s match, Memphis will return to the Bluff City for its Open Cup third round match against Hartford Athletic. That match will take place at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex on Wednesday, May 29 at 7:00 p.m. The winner of that match will play, and possibly host, an MLS squad in the fourth round.
Tickets for that match are now available for season ticket holders.
