901 FC head coach Tim Mulqueen shook up the lineup with Cal Jennings and University of Memphis alum Raul Gonzalez making their first starts of the season to give Memphis a new look.
Throughout the entire match Birmingham dominated the possession statistic, maintaining over seventy percent of the possession, but Memphis was able to take advantage of their chances.
After Birmingham struck first, Memphis regained composure and tied the match off the foot of Rafa Mentzingen in the 18th minute. Less than ten minutes later Cal Jennings earned Memphis a penalty kick after breaking loose through the Birmingham defensive line. Early in the second half 901 FC brought in both Duane Muckette and Brandon Allen to maintain the offensive pressure. Dan Metzger entered the match in the 80th minute, marking his first appearance of the season for Memphis.
Memphis maintained a strong defensive line throughout the entire second half as they battled to maintain the lead and take home three points, but nine minutes of stoppage proved to be too much.
