Memphis, Tenn. – Forward Kyle Murphy has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week bench for Week 11. Murphy earns the honor after recording just the twelfth multi-goal match in club history as the New York native knocked in a brace in a 2-2 draw against Atlanta United 2 on Saturday.
Murphy opened the scoring early as the forward took control of the match in the 21’, pulling in a long pass from Andre Reynolds and tapping the ball away from a rushing Atlanta keeper, the forward opened the scoring by rolling the ball into an empty net. Just six minutes later, Murphy secured his brace as he collected a deflected Leston Paul shot and slotted the ball past the keeper for a 2-0 advantage in the 27’.
While scoring twice, Murphy also led the team in shots, shots on target and percentage of aerial duels won in just 65’ of play. Murphy’s brace now puts his scoring total at four goals on the season so far—a mark that leads the team and puts the forward at a tie for fifth in club history in goals scored in a season.
