Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC (3-4-4) return to AutoZone Park on Saturday, July 24 to face FC Tulsa (6-5-1) for the first time in club history. Memphis is coming off a draw against Indy Eleven and riding a three-match unbeaten streak as the club returns to Memphis for the first time since June 26.
In Indianapolis, a slow start for both parties climaxed with each side scoring a goal within a four-minute span. After a 47’ goal from the home side, Michael Salazar knocked in his second goal of the season—both of which have come in Indianapolis—to level the match at 1-1. After the final whistle had sounded, Memphis picked up a point in the contest which extended its unbeaten streak to three matches.
Moving up the table, Memphis 901 FC finds itself at seventh in the Central Division standings and just four points shy of the playoff line. On the other side of the pitch, FC Tulsa has found a strong start to the season as the side is third in the division with six wins and a draw this season. Tulsa started the season with three straight wins before dropping the next three and winning three of its last nine.
Fielding a trio of talented scorers, Tulsa is currently tied for fifth in the league with 21 goals on the year. Midfielder Rodrigo da Costa leads FC Tulsa with seven goals. Since joining the club in 2019, the Brazilian has tallied 20 goals in 61 appearances. Joaquín Rivas also has a number of goals, as the Salvadoran forward has scored five times thus far. Finally, Dario Suárez has recorded four goals in his 12 matches this season.
While Tulsa can score, the visitors have a hard time keeping the ball out of their own net as the club have conceded 23 goals this season for an average of 1.91 goals per match. Looking to capitalize, forwards Kyle Murphy and Michael Salazar will look to remain hot as the two have scored a combined seven goals and are unbeaten in all but one match where either have scored. Between the posts, Kyle Morton remains in good form as the keeper currently holds a 92.3 save percentage.
