Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC gained a convincing three points and control of the Eastern Conference with a 2-0 victory over FC Tulsa on Wednesday night at AutoZone Park.
Impressive goals from Graham Smith and Derek Dodson lifted Memphis over Tulsa as they reclaimed the lead in the Eastern Conference with 32 points in 15 games.
Memphis controlled the match in the first phase of the match before Graham Smith got loose on a corner kick from Aaron Molloy and fired a header straight into the back of the next in the 14th minute. The boys in blue took the 1-0 lead into the locker room with plenty of chances to spare.
Memphis 901 FC notched seven shots in the first half with six of those coming on target while preventing Tulsa from having a shot on goal.
Tulsa maintained possession for most of the second half, but Memphis took advantage of their chances as Derek Dodson supplied the dagger in the 84th minute to push the lead to 2-0 for Memphis. 901 FC tallied 15 total shots with nine shots on target, forcing seven goalkeeper saves. The Memphis defense delivered as well winning 14 tackles and intercepting 11 passes in the match.
901 FC moved to 10-3-2 with the victory.
Memphis 901 FC will play host to Detroit City FC on Saturday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m. CT at AutoZone Park.
