Memphis, Tenn – Memphis 901 FC fell 2-0 to the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday night, moving to 11-3-2 on the season.
Two first half goals from Rowdies forward Jake LaCava kept 901 FC chasing early as they were unable to capitalize on opportunities in the second half.
The first Rowdies goal came in the third minute of the match when LaCava got a foot on a shot rebound, taking the lead with a near-post strike to beat Trey Muse. LaCava struck again from the left side of the goal in the 34th minute as he finished a cross from Leo Fernandes to double the lead. Tonight’s match marked just the fourth time 901 FC has trailed at halftime.
Memphis dominated possession for most of the second half but couldn’t convert on their seven shots in the half as the Rowdies held in defense to secure the three points.
