Memphis, Tenn – Memphis 901 FC defender Rece Buckmaster received USL Championship Team of the Week honors after his performance in the club’s 3-1 victory over Phoenix Rising FC over the weekend.
Buckmaster recorded his first goal of the season on Saturday, connecting with USL Championship assist leader Jeremy Kelly on a give-and-go into the box and finishing far post off his right foot past the keeper. The defender also won three tackles and eight duels.
Buckmaster has started all 18 games for Memphis 901 FC this season recording three assists with 22 clearances.
“Rece is a top defender and an even better teammate,” Head Coach Ben Pirmann said. “We are thrilled for him to be awarded for such hard work this season.”
Receiving his fifth Team of the Week honorable mention is Aaron Molloy, who notched his fifth assist of the season with an 86th minute free kick that found Graham Smith for a header. The midfielder ranks in the top 10 in the league with five assists and 31 chances created this season.
Memphis 901 FC will host Louisville City FC in an all-important matchup between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference on Saturday, July 16 at AutoZone Park at 7:30 p.m. CT.
