Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC announced on Thursday that three academy prospects have departed the club to begin their collegiate careers this fall.
Forward Simeon Betapudi will join Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. after two years with 901 FC while midfielder Aaron O’Malley will play his freshman season for University of Massachusetts Amherst. Forward Matthew Brucker will join the 2022 class at High Point University in North Carolina.
As academy signings, Betapudi, Brucker and O’Malley maintained their eligibility while training within a professional program.
“We are so thankful and proud of Simeon, Aaron & Matt,” Head Coach Ben Pirmann said. “They have selflessly served this Club and our community over the last 2 seasons as our first batch of academy signings in our Club history. They have paved the way for future development in this community and for that we are beyond grateful.”
The regular season continues for 901 FC as they’ll hit the road to face the New York Red Bulls II on Wednesday, August 3 at 6 p.m. CT.
