Memphis, Tenn – Memphis 901 FC used standout performances from Aaron Molloy and Nighte Pickering to grab a 3-1 victory of Hartford Athletic on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
Molloy scored the first goal and assisted on the second while new club signee Pickering notched his first career goal in fashion with a flashy bicycle kick to seal the win.
Memphis dominated possession in the first half until Prince Saydee put away a crosser in the 37th minute to give Hartford the lead, but Memphis 901 FC didn’t take long to equalized as Molloy delivered a strike from the top of the box to beat the keeper and equalize in the 40th minute.
Molloy would come back just four minutes later to deliver a ball into the mixer for Zach Carroll to finish with a header and give Memphis the lead in the 45th minute. Carroll scored his second goal of the season while Molloy notched his eighth assist of the season.
New club signee Pickering came on in the second half to play up top and took no time to make an impact. As the ball bounced around the box, the 17-year-old striker found the opportunity and delivered a bicycle kick into the back of the net for this first goal of his professional career
Memphis moved to 14-5-3 on the season with the victory and is now unbeaten in the last 23 games after leading at halftime going back to 2020.
