ATLANTA, Ga. – Memphis 901 FC clinched their spot in the USL Championship playoffs with a 4-0 victory over Atlanta United 2 on Wednesday night at Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
A hat trick from Phillip Goodrum led Memphis to their 17th victory of the season and sealed their second consecutive playoff appearance.
Memphis controlled the pace of the first half and jumped ahead with a 36th minute goal from Goodrum, who finished a ball bouncing around the box with a header to open scoring.
901 FC remained on the attack with a 43rd minute goal from Goodrum after Jeremy Kelly found Derek Dodson striding down the right side of the box, where he whipped a cross straight to a flying Goodrum for a header to double the lead.
Goodrum scored his 17th goal of the season in the 51st minute to notch the hat trick and put Memphis up 3-0 before Handwalla Bwana found the back of the net for his first in a 901 FC jersey in the 64th minute to put the match away.
Memphis is now unbeaten in the last 26 matches after leading at halftime.
