Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC announced on Thursday the club has exercised the 2023 options on midfielders Luiz Fernando and Lucas Turci, pending league and federation approval.
The two Brazilian internationals return as a part of a top-tier rotation of attacking players in Memphis including Phillip Goodrum, Aaron Molloy and Laurent Kissiedou.
Fernando joined 901 FC ahead of the 2022 season before starting in 22 of 29 matches with four goals and five assists as a key piece in one of the league’s best attacks.
“Luiz was an outstanding addition to our team in 2022 and his contribution on the field speaks for itself” Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell said. “He’s a true winner and we look forward to welcoming him back in 2023 in pursuit of a USL Championship.”
Turci appeared in 23 matches for 901 FC in 2022 with one goal and one assist serving as a utility reserve in the club’s historic season.
“We are delighted to welcome Lucas back in 2023. He is a versatile player that plays many positions for us with quality,” Patterson-Sewell said. “We believe 2023 will be a big year for Lucas and look forward to him contributing in a big way.”
