Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC fell to Pittsburgh Riverhounds 3-1 in their week two matchup on Saturday at AutoZone Park.
Pittsburgh took the lead early with a goal in the 5th minute, but Memphis took no time to answer as Dylan Borczak crossed a ball into the box with Bruno Lapa waiting to finish it past the keeper with a right footed shot.
Lapa has now contributed to goals in both matches played with 901 FC with an assist in the season opener and the equalizer against Pittsburgh.
Memphis held the ball in the Pittsburgh half for most of the first half until the Riverhounds found an opening and were awarded a penalty on a handball in the box in the 38th minute. The converted penalty gave Pittsburgh the lead going into the half.
Memphis had the advantage of possession throughout the second half but couldn’t find a goal before Pittsburgh used a counterattack opportunity to take a 3-1 lead in the 71st minute.
901 FC hits the road for a match against Oakland Roots SC on Saturday, March 25 at 9 p.m. CT.
