Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC comes off a short turnaround to face in-state foe One Knoxville SC in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday, April 4 at 6 p.m. CT.
Memphis will look to gather momentum after grabbing their first point of the 2023 campaign with a 1-1 draw in Miami on Saturday. 901 FC used consistent second half pressure up top to force an 80th minute own goal, splitting points on the road.
Keeping up that pressure will be vital when they face the League One side in Knoxville in the longest running soccer in the country. With the new faces contributing this season, returning players will look for Open Cup redemption after a let down last year, losing 3-1 to Chattanooga FC in the second round of the competition.
Knoxville are 1-0-0 after a 2-1 victory over Lexington SC in their USL League One debut using two first half goals from Jimmie Villalobos and Jake Keegan. Tuesday’s fixture marks the third Open Cup campaign for 901 FC with Knoxville making their first appearance in the competition.
Kickoff at Regal Soccer Stadium on Tuesday is set for 6 p.m. CT and fans can watch the clash on the One Knoxville SC YouTube Channel.
