Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC finished off a 2-2 draw with Las Vegas Lights SC in a weather-delayed match in the early morning hours of Sunday morning at AutoZone Park.
Memphis found goals from Jeremy Kelly and Luiz Fernando before the match was paused with 79 minutes played at 8:45 p.m.
Las Vegas caught a stroke of luck in the 15th minute as a clearance attempt from the Memphis backline ricocheted off of Lucas Stauffer from 40 feet out and streamed into the back of the net.
901 FC would respond immediately with pressure on the Vegas goalkeeper producing chances from Aaron Molloy and Phillip Goodrum.
It was Jeremy Kelly who got loose in the box on a Molloy corner kick to put 901 FC on the score sheet. The midfielder scored with a header to the back of the net to put Memphis back in the match in the 35th minute.
Memphis took the lead in the second half when Laurent Kissiedou found Luiz Fernando in the box for the one-time finish and his first goal of the season for the Brazilian forward. Las Vegas would answer, however, as Emmanuel Ledesma a strike to the far post in the 78th minute, seconds before the weather delay.
Memphis 901 FC moved to 0-2-2 with the draw and will travel to face Rio Grande Valley FC Toros on Saturday, April 22 at 7 p.m. CT before a duel with Atlanta United of MLS in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, April 26 in the Peach State.
