Tulsa, Okla. – Memphis 901 FC grabbed three points and extended their franchise-record unbeaten streak to seven matches with a convincing 2-1 victory over FC Tulsa on the road on Saturday night.
Goals from young star Nighte Pickering and captain Aaron Molloy lifted the Beale St. Boys as they maintained their blemish-free road record.
Memphis enjoyed most of the possession and chances at a goal in the first half with eight shots, but couldn’t find the back of the net with several shots missing just wide or hitting the crossbar. Goalkeeper Bill Hamid erased Tulsa’s only big chance at the goal in the first half with a strong save in the 23rd minute.
The gates opened for 901 FC in the second half as Pickering found his opening on a rebounded ball around the goal to put Memphis in the lead. The 18-year-old forward scored his second goal of the USL Championship season in his second start this year.
Memphis remained on the front foot with the lead and Aaron Molloy seized his opportunity with a low strike through traffic into the back of the net in the 65th minute.
901 FC will enjoy an off weekend before returning to AutoZone Park to host a strong Miami FC club on Saturday, June 3 at 7:30 p.m. CT.
