Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC put together another dominant performance at AutoZone Park to topple Miami FC on Saturday night with a season-high five goals.
The Beale St. Boys used instant pressure up top to jump on Miami and win their fourth consecutive match and extend their unbeaten streak to eight games. Memphis has not lost a match in the regular season since March 18.
Memphis made quick work of the Miami defense after winning a corner kick in the first minute of the match. Aaron Molloy sailed the set piece kick across the field to the feet of Jeremy Kelly, who hit a first-time strike along the pitch into the back of the net.
The goal in the 58th second of the match is the fastest goal scored in the USL Championship this season.
901 FC extended their lead with a pair of handball penalty kicks from Aaron Molloy in the 22nd minute and Bruno Lapa in the 34th. The three goals set a new highmark for first-half scoring for Memphis this season.
Nighte Pickering put the finishing touch on the victory when he found himself behind the defense and hit a poised chip to beat the keeper in the 76th minute. Akeem Ward came on and finished another for Memphis for good measure. Memphis 901 FC improved to 5-2-3 on the season with the victory.
901 hits the road to take on a strong Louisville City FC side on Saturday, June 10 at 7 p.m. CT. Fans can watch the match on WMC Bounce 5.2 locally and stream on ESPN+.
