Indianapolis, Ind. – Memphis 901 FC earned three points in a 2-1 victory over Indy Eleven at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on Saturday night.
901 FC used a go-ahead goal from defender Akeem Ward to get back in the win column in pursuit of a home postseason match.
Memphis grabbed the lead with a Lucas Turci header into the back of the net in the 38th minute. Aaron Molloy whipped a corner kick into the box and found the big defender for his first goal of the season. Turci is the 14th Beale Street Boy to score this season while Molloy tallied his team-leading sixth assist of the season.
Indy Eleven would find an equalizer in the 57th minute, but 901 FC used strong possession and interplay to give Akeem Ward the chance to score the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute on a one-touch scorcher from outside the box. Laurent Kissiedou notched his third assist of the season as he served the ball up for Ward, who scored his second goal of the season.
901 FC has only suffered two losses in 12 matches away from AutoZone Park this season as one of the best road teams in the USL Championship.
Memphis moved to 9-6-7 on the season with 34 points in 22 matches. The Beale Street Boys sit at No. 5 in the Eastern Conference with 12 matches remaining in the season.
Memphis 901 FC heads to the West Coast to take on San Diego Loyal SC in an interconference matchup on Saturday, August 12 at 9 p.m. CT.
