Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC fell in a 2-1 result to Birmingham Legion FC on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
Rodrigo Da Costa found the back of the net for his team-leading 15th goal of the season via penalty kick, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Diba Nwegbo and Neco Brett’s contributions.
901 FC found their goal after a handball in the penalty area put Da Costa on the spot. The reigning USL Championship Player of the Week used his left foot to fool the kicker and score his fourth goal in two matches.
Memphis moves to 13-9-10 with the loss with hopes of hosting a first-round playoff matchup still alive.
901 FC plays their final regular season home game on Saturday, October 7 when El Paso Locomotive comes to town for an interconference matchup.
