Memphis 901 FC vs. Indy Eleven | March 16, 2023 – AutoZone Park, Memphis, Tenn.
Head Coach Stephen Glass
On today’s performance:
We take away that you can’t start games and allow teams to dictate pace. We got what we deserved based on the performance in the first half. The second half we were a lot better. You’re down two with 10 men, it’s a mountain to climb, so proud of the second half performance, but overall disappointed.
On what to learn from today’s game
We need to start games like we played the second half. We didn’t change the way we work. There’s awareness that you cannot start games like that in this league. I’m not sure why it happened but I think sometimes you have to get slapped for the realization to come.
On the team’s response second half:
I think if a team was going to score a goal in the second half it was going to be us. We’ve played against 10 players before and it’s alway a bit awkward but the way we started the second half showed a real intent. Everything we didn’t do in the first half, we did in terms of pure endeavor and desire to go forward and be dangerous and we almost got the reward. You can’t take away how disappointing the first half was.
