Birmingham, ALA. (April 27, 2024) – Memphis 901 FC used two goals from Bruno Lapa to deliver 3-0 victory over rival Birmingham Legion FC on Saturday night at Protective Stadium.
Memphis went ahead early as two former Birmingham players in Marlon Santos and Lapa connected for a cross and goal from the middle of the box in the first five minutes of the match.
Lucas Turci doubled the score in the 17th minute with a thunderous left footed strike from outside the box to beat the keeper. Oscar Jimenez delivered the cross before Turci finished in the bottom left corner.
Lapa delivered the dagger for his second goal of the night in the 54th minute. The Brazilian connection of Lapa and Marlon came together once again on a breakaway counterattack to beat Birmingham defense and put the game away early.
Goalkeeper Tyler Deric tallied six saves for his first clean sheet shutout with 901 FC as the club moved to 2-5-0 on the season.
