Frisco, TX. (May 7, 2024) – Memphis 901 FC’s 2024 U.S. Open Cup run came to an end on Tuesday night after a 1-0 loss to MLS club FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium.
A second-half quick play goal from Dallas found the back of the net and decided defensive battle as Memphis exited the national soccer competition.
Memphis absorbed Dallas’ punches in the first half with three blocked shots and nine interceptions while picking spots to put pressure on the opposition defense resulting in a few close chances from Marlon.
The second half opened up for both attacks in the tightly contested match until the 73rd minute when Jesús Ferreira found Logan Farrington sneaking behind the defense on a free kick restart.
Memphis 901 FC returns to USL Championship action this Saturday, May 11 with a trip to Monterey Bay FC. The matchup at Cardinale Stadium is set for 9 p.m. CT.
