MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Memphis 901 FC forward Brandon Allen has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after his two-goal performance in 901 FC’s draw against second-place New York Red Bulls II on Saturday.
With Memphis trailing 2-0, Allen scored his first goal as a member of 901 FC in the 48th minute off a beautiful pass by Lagos Kunga, who entered as a substitute at the break. Allen then found the net in the 87th minute, playing a ball from Wes Charpie past the keeper for the equalizer.
Allen’s second-half heroics helped 901 FC earn a crucial point against Red Bulls II, who entered the match in second place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference.
Allen joins 901 FC teammates Elliot Collier (Week 2, Week 18), Wes Charpie (Week 3), and Duane Muckette (Week 10) in earning league recognition this season.
Memphis closes the month of July with a home match on Saturday against Ottawa Fury FC. Kickoff at AutoZone Park is set for 7:30 p.m.
