MEMPHIS, Tennessee – With four matches remaining in the regular season, Memphis 901 FC heads to Indianapolis to face Indy Eleven tomorrow night at 6:00 (CT) with the playoff race heating up.
901 FC has won five of its last six matches after a 5-0 drubbing of Bethlehem Steel FC last Saturday, scoring three goals in the first 30 minutes of the match and never looking back. Elliot Collier opened the scoring, Marcus Epps found the back of the net, Brandon Allen scored twice, and Liam Doyle scored his first goal for Memphis to complete the outing.
The five goals against Bethlehem were a season high for 901 FC, who has scored 14 goals in its last six matches. As a result of going 5-1-0 in those six matches, 901 FC has risen from 17th place in the USL Championship Eastern Conference to its current place of 12th, five points off the playoff line with four matches to play.
Memphis and Indy played earlier this season at AutoZone Park, which was a 3-0 win for the visitors on June 8. Since then, however, 901 FC has a very different look, as it has added Allen, Epps, Pierre Da Silva, and Doyle in the weeks that followed. 901 FC has points in 10 of its 17 matches that followed the previous matchup with Indy Eleven.
Tomorrow is a homecoming for 901 FC midfielder Lindley, who is from nearby Carmel, Ind. Lindley is in great form entering tomorrow’s match, as he has earned USL Championship Team of the Week honors in each of the last two weeks. He has three assists in his last two matches and five in his previous four. Additionally, Collier returns to Indianapolis after playing 10 matches with Indy Eleven in 2018 on loan from Chicago Fire of MLS.
After tomorrow, Memphis returns to AutoZone Park next Saturday, Oct. 12, to face Charlotte Independence. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. 901 FC then heads to Charleston Battery for a rescheduled match on Oct. 16 before finishing the regular season at AutoZone Park against Louisville City FC on Saturday, Oct. 19.
