Memphis, TENN. (March 15, 2024) — The United States Soccer Federation announced on Friday Memphis 901 FC forward Nighte Pickering has been called up to the U-19 Men’s Youth National Team for the March FIFA international window.
Pickering will participate in national team training camp in Rabat, Morocco from March 17-27 in preparation for international friendlies against England on March 24 and Morocco on March 26.
“This is another fantastic step in Nighte’s career,” 901 FC Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell said. “We brought him in as a young 17-year-old after scouting a youth tournament and his progression has been brilliant. After starting one game in his first season, he has now appeared more than 35 times with numerous national team camps and a lot of interest abroad at the moment. We look forward to his continued progression within the national team setup.”
This marks Pickering’s third call up after stints with the Youth National Team in April of 2022 and January of 2023. The forward will look to compete in the 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship, which is open to players born on or after Jan. 1, 2005. Head Coach Michael Nsien will lead the 2005-birth year U-19 MYNT during its preparations for and at the Concacaf Championship this summer.
The young striker has poured in eight goals and three assists since becoming 901 FC’s youngest signing in 2022. The 19-year-old scored the game-winning goal in the club’s season opener last Saturday, earning USL Championship Goal of the Week honors.
Pickering will be available for selection as Memphis 901 FC hosts Indy Eleven on Saturday, March 16 at 3 p.m. CT. Single Match Tickets are available now at the club’s official website.
