Memphis, TENN. (Oct. 1, 2024) — The USL Championship on Tuesday announced the league’s Team of the Week for Regular Season Week 30, with Bruno Lapa earning the honor. 

Lapa earned his fifth Team of the Week nod of the season with a first-half brace against Louisville on Saturday to go with five duels won and two chances created on 94% passing accuracy. The two goals helped Lapa clear Marlon with a team-leading 10 goals on the season for the Brazilian midfielder. 

The veteran attacker leads the team with 64 chances created, good for third-most in the USL Championship.  

901 FC will face Oakland Roots SC on Saturday, October 5 with a chance to clinch their fourth consecutive playoff appearance. Kickoff at AutoZone Park is set for 7 p.m. CT. Tickets for the match can be purchased with this link.

Hyndman and Jimenez Earn Honorable Mention 

Memphis, TENN. (Sept. 17, 2024) — The USL Championship today announced the league’s Team of the Week for Regular Season Week 28, with Marlon earning a nod. 

Marlon recorded a first-half brace helping the Beale Street Boys take early control in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over North Carolina FC and extend their home unbeaten streak to 11 matches.  

The scores put the Brazilian forward at a team-leading nine goals total this season. Marlon also had four shots on target with five duels won in Saturday’s win at AutoZone Park. Marlon adds to his USL Championship accolades with his fourth Team of the Week nod this season to go with a Player of the Week honor in Week 9 followed by a Player of the Month win in May. 

Midfielder Emerson Hyndman and Defender Oscar Jimenez landed on the honorable mention list. Hyndman tallied seven shots and 11 duels won over two appearances last week while Oscar Jimenez had three chances created on 17 crosses on Wednesday. 

Memphis 901 FC has a bye week before traveling to face Louisville City FC on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. CT.

Bruno Lapa and Samuel Careaga Earn Honorable Mentions 

Memphis, TENN. (August 20, 2024) — The USL Championship today announced the league’s Team of the Week for Regular Season Week 24, with Alvaro Quezada, Bruno Lapa, Samuel Careaga earning the honors.

The Beale Street Boys grabbed six points with two victories over the week outscoring their opponents 7-1 to move to No. 3 in the Western Conference. 

Alvaro Quezada makes his first Team of the Week appearance after two strong performances last week starting with a goal and an assist in just 25 minutes on the pitch in a 5-1 victory over Miami FC on Wednesday.  

The right back earned the start on Saturday and was instrumental in the shutout, winning 13 of his 15 duels with seven tackles. Quezada also helped on the attacking end with six crosses and 90% passing accuracy. 

Bruno Lapa was named as an honorable mention after contributing to two goals over the week, including a drawn foul followed by a successful penalty kick against Tulsa on Saturday. 

Samuel Careaga also landed himself an honorable mention continuing his strong run of form with a goal in each win last week. The Argentine midfielder has a goal in four of the 901 FC’s last five matches. 

Memphis 901 FC is back in action on the road on Saturday, August 24 at No. 4 Oakland Roots SC with a 9 p.m. CT kickoff. 901 FC returns to AutoZone Park on Wednesday, September 11 for Hometown Heroes Night.

Memphis, TENN. (July 30, 2024) – The USL Championship announced today that Memphis 901 FC’s Triston Henry and Samuel Careaga were named to the league’s Team of the Week for Week 21. 

The duo led Memphis to a gritty 1-0 victory over San Antonio FC on Saturday at AutoZone Park to extend their home unbeaten streak to six matches. 

Henry delivered in his 901 FC debut with six saves in a shutout. The goalkeeper signed with Memphis early in the week and stepped between the posts in place of the injured Tyler Deric. 

Careaga was the goal scorer on Saturday, finding the net for the fourth time this season with a left-footed strike to the far post. The midfielder completed 82% of his passes while winning possession nine times with 10 total duels.

Memphis, Tenn. (July 16, 2024) – The USL Championship announced Tuesday that Memphis 901 FC midfielder Bruno Lapa was named to the league’s Team of the Week for Regular Season Week 19.  

Lapa was the hero on Saturday with an 86^th minute volley into the top-left corner of the net to give Memphis the three-point result. The midfielder recorded four shots and five chances created while completing all eight of his crosses and 17 of 24 passes overall. 

Lapa’s Goal of the Week nominated play was the second late-game winner of the season and team-leading seventh score, tied with fellow Brazilian countryman Marlon.  

The honor marks Lapa’s team-leading fourth Team of the Week appearance this season. 

Memphis 901 FC’s three-match road stint concludes at FC Tulsa on Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. CT. Memphis returns to AutoZone Park on Saturday, July 27 for Back to School Night followed by post-match fireworks.

Memphis, TENN. (July 2, 2024) – The USL Championship announced to Tuesday the league’s Team of the Week for Week 17, including three Memphis 901 FC players. 

Akeem Ward, Carson Vom Steeg and Zac Duncan led the Beale Street Boys to a dominant 5-1 victory over reigning USL title holders Phoenix Rising FC on Friday night at AutoZone Park. 

Ward tallied a pair of assists on Friday while completing 28 of 33 passes and winning all six duels defensively. The defender has worn the captain’s armband in 12 of his 14 starts this season. 

Vom Steeg delivered a strong two-way performance notching his first goal and second assist of the season from the opposite fullback position on Friday night. The right back recorded four clearances, three interceptions and two recoveries defensively. 

Duncan earned his first Team of the Week nod after scoring his first goal as a Beale Street Boy. The Australian completed 39 of 42 passes with eight recoveries and an interception. 

Memphis 901 FC starts a three-match road trip on Saturday, July 6 with a showdown against Orange County SC. Memphis returns to AutoZone Park on Saturday, July 27 for Back to School Night followed by post-match fireworks.

Bruno Lapa Named Honorable Mention 

Memphis, TENN. (June 18, 2024) – The USL Championship announced on Tuesday Memphis 901 FC defender Akeem Ward was named to the league’s Team of the Week for Week 15. 

Akeem was instrumental in a two-match week featuring a comeback draw to Rhode Island and victory over league-leading New Mexico United. The defender tallied 12 duels won, five interceptions and six clearances as Memphis grabbed four points and moved to No. 3 in the Western Conference. 

Bruno Lapa was also named to the Team of the Week honorable mention list after recording a goal and an assist in Memphis’ victory on Saturday. The midfielder tallied five chances created in two matches while completing 85% of his passes. 

Memphis 901 FC is in on the road Saturday as they travel to face Las Vegas Lights FC. Kickoff for the Western Conference matchup is set for 9:30 p.m. CT. Fans can watch on ESPN+ or WMC Action News 5 Plus locally.

Memphis, TENN. (June 13, 2024) – The USL Championship announced on Thursday that Marlon Santos was voted USL Championship Player of the Month for May.  

“We are delighted for Marlon, he has put in a lot of work in preseason and throughout the start of the year and he now getting his rewards,” said Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell. “We look forward to watching Marlon lead us to more victories this season.”  

The Brazilian attacker tallied five goals and three assists in four undefeated matches for 901 FC during the month. Marlon contributed to eight of the club’s 10 goals in the month. He recorded two goals and an assist in a 4-1 victory over Tampa on May 4 then notched a goal and assist in each of the club’s next two outings before a game-winning goal against Pittsburgh to close the month. 

Marlon leads the club with six goals, five assists, 13 shots on target and 112 duels won this season as a breakout star in the central forward position. He’s currently tied for second in the league with 11 goal contributions.

“I am delighted that Marlon has won this award in recognition of his incredible level of performance throughout May,” Head Coach Stephen Glass said. “Since the decision was made to move him to a new position he has truly excelled, and we are all pleased that he has been named Player of the Month. Marlon’s individual award is a good indicator of the performance of the team overall and we now look to continue the good work and embrace the challenges ahead in the Western Conference. I am looking forward to Marlon and the team getting a great reception when we host the Conference leaders on Saturday evening at AutoZone Park.”  

 Marlon earned 31 percent of a weighted poll that included the USL Championship Technical Committee, a national panel of independent media representing every USL market and an online fan vote held at USLChampionship.com.

Marlon Named Honorable Mention 

Memphis, TENN. (May 28, 2024) – The USL Championship announced Memphis 901 FC’s Oscar Jimenez was named to the league’s Team of the Week for Regular Season Week 12. 

The veteran defender scored his first goal with 901 FC in a 2-0 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday, the club’s fourth win in five matches. Jimenez has tallied a goal and an assist in eight matches this season. 

Marlon was named to the Team of the Week bench after delivering his fifth goal in four matches. The Brazilian attacker has found the back of the net in each of the past four matches and notched five assists during the club’s five match unbeaten streak. 

Memphis climbed to No. 3 in the Western Conference standings with win on Saturday. 

Memphis 901 FC hits the road again to take on San Antonio FC on Saturday, June 1 at 8 p.m. CT. The Beale Street Boys return to AutoZone Park on Saturday, June 8 against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
